When do we meet?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Sinfonia meets every Thursday and Sunday evening from 7:00-9:00pm. Rehearsals typically run from September to late November in the fall semester and from late March through April in the spring semester. Attendance is expected of every member at every rehearsal and performance, but exceptions can be made for reasonable conflicts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Are we a volunteer ensemble?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Sinfonia does not offer any academic credit or monetary compensation for its musicians, but we believe that this is one of the reasons that Sinfonia is so special. Because it is volunteer-based, it is a labor of love for everyone involved. This creates a special kind of energy in the group and a sense of kinship and camaraderie.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What opportunities are there for leadership?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Sinfonia uses a rotating seating system so everyone gets an opportunity to lead the ensemble. We operate a lot like a chamber ensemble, where everyone has an equal voice, and we work together to make decisions.<\/span><\/p>\n

While performing in Sinfonia is strictly volunteer, there are two Co-Director positions that offer compensation for administrative tasks. The Co-Directors work closely with LAUNCHPad and administrators to facilitate and support Sinfonia. Co-Directors are typically previous members of Sinfonia and show a high level of responsibility and dedication to Sinfonia\u2018s mission.<\/span><\/p>\n

What are the Sinfonia concerts like?\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

There is something so rewarding about the energy in Sinfonia concerts. We work to remove that fourth wall between performers and audience by talking to audiences between pieces as well as before and after the concerts. Depending on the venue, audiences often clap and dance along to familiar pieces and usually have a lot of questions at the end of the concerts. This fosters an additional connection between the performers and the audience, outside of just the music. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
