Lessons are scheduled at our Downtown, Towson, and Howard County Peabody Preparatory locations (double bass not offered in Howard County) on an individual basis and are contingent upon teacher availability. Students enrolled in individual instruction are required to have a practice instrument available.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Students needing placement for individual instruction must attend a Placement Interview<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You will be asked to fill out an Inquiry Form that includes questions regarding your campus preference and daily availability for lessons. Please be complete and generous with options, as the accuracy of this information facilitates our ability to place as many students as possible.<\/p>\n<p>Students needing placement for Private Lessons must attend a Placement interview. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/peabody.asapconnected.com\/?#CourseGroupID=39210\">Register for a Placement Interview<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/peabody.jhu.edu\/preparatory\/registration-financial-aid\/placement-information\/#placement\">Learn more<\/a> about Private Lesson placement process at Peabody.<\/p>\n<p>Returning students may proceed to registration. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/peabody.asapconnected.com\/?#CourseGroupID=37476\">Register for Private Lessons<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Class, Program, and Ensemble Placements<\/h2>\n<p>Contact <a href=\"mailto:peabodyprepstrings@jhu.edu\">peabodyprepstrings@jhu.edu<\/a> with questions.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your teacher, the Chair, or Associate-Chairs will advise you with regard to appropriate classes, ensembles and programs in which to register or audition.<\/li>\n<li>Most ages, grades, and levels are approximate.<\/li>\n<li>Our goal is to create well-matched classes and ensembles for the educational and musical benefit of all participants, hence the difficulty of adding specific age or repertoire level labels to our offerings. The age range or level of some groups may vary slightly from year to year. Consideration for placement may include age, repertoire level, technical, musical, ensemble, performance and reading skills, fluency, attendance, emotional maturity, musical maturity, lesson preparation, and consistency of review.<\/li>\n<li>YPSP Group classes and Camp Allegro classes are assigned by the YPSP faculty.<\/li>\n<li>Entrance into the Pre-Conservatory Violin Program, Performance Academy for Strings, Orchestras, Chamber Music and Chamber Camp are by audition.<\/li>\n<li>PCVP, Performance Academy (PA), YPSP, Repertoire Classes and all Peabody Preparatory recitals, competitions, and special events are open only to students who take their individual lessons at Peabody.<\/li>\n<li>Orchestra,\u00a0Chamber Music for Strings\/Winds\/Piano, Chamber Week and Allegro Strings are open to anyone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Private Lessons Individual violin, viola, cello, and double bass instruction is available to children and adults of all experience levels\u2014from beginners through the most advanced levels of study.
