{"id":3373,"date":"2017-07-17T13:05:10","date_gmt":"2017-07-17T17:05:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/peabody.jhu.edu\/?page_id=3373"},"modified":"2024-09-10T14:38:14","modified_gmt":"2024-09-10T18:38:14","slug":"transfer-credits","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/peabody.jhu.edu\/academics\/academic-calendar-resources\/academic-affairs\/transfer-credits\/","title":{"rendered":"Transfer and Outside Credit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"clear\">Students must complete most of the requirements for a degree or diploma through credits earned for courses taken at Peabody as a matriculated student.\u00a0 However, students may transfer some credits taken at accredited post-secondary schools or through the accelerated testing of recognized providers (such as the College Board or International Baccalaureate).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"clear\">Transfer credits are accepted pending the submission of necessary documentation to the Office of the Registrar and in consultation with the Office of Academic Affairs.\u00a0 Peabody can only transfer credits for students who have already matriculated into degree or diploma programs.\u00a0 New students are welcome to contact the Office of Academic Affairs before enrolling but will not be able to begin the process of transferring credits until after enrolling in classes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Students who are interested in <a href=\"https:\/\/portalcontent.johnshopkins.edu\/Peabody\/conservatory\/academicaffairs\/internships.html\">earning credit from an internship<\/a> should submit a proposal to\u00a0 the Office of Academic Affairs.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"clear\">Like most conservatories, Peabody does not accept transfer credits for lessons, juries, or recitals.\u00a0 For undergraduate transfer students, the year of study (sophomore or junior) is determined by the department at the time of the audition and validated by the year-end departmental jury.\u00a0 Peabody does not accept transfer credits for ensembles.\u00a0 Performance majors must participate in ensembles in every semester of instruction, and transfer students must participate in ensembles for at least two years. Additional requirements for transfer credit may be found in the <a href=\"https:\/\/e-catalogue.jhu.edu\/peabody\/general-information-procedures-regulations\/academic\/sources-of-credit\/\">Academic Catalog<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"clear\">Students interested in taking classes at an outside institution with the purpose of transferring credit to Peabody should contact the Director of Advising to discuss their plans. Students should then fill out the <a href=\"https:\/\/peabody.jhu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Transfer-Credit-Policies.pdf\">Outside Credit\u00a0Pre-Approval form<\/a> for each class they plan to take at an outside institution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>After completing approved classes at an outside institution, students should have an official transcript from the institution sent to the Peabody Conservatory Registrar:<\/p>\n<p>Conservatory Registrar\u2019s Office<br \/>\nThe Peabody Institute<br \/>\n1 E.
