At the same time, we are a Maryland school and must comply with state regulations. The following official policy meets both needs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In order to be an entering student at a college in the state of Maryland, an applicant must be a graduate of an accredited high school.<\/li>\n<li>In lieu of a high school diploma, an applicant can qualify with a high school equivalency certificate or diploma (GED).\n<ul>\n<li>Home schooled applicants are encouraged to submit the GED in lieu of a high school degree.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Without a high school degree or GED, Peabody will consider musically acceptable applicants for admission on a case by case basis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applicants must show evidence of their ability to do college-level academic work. The following forms of evidence will be considered:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A transcript or other documentation from an accredited home schooling agency that the applicant has satisfactorily completed the equivalent of a high school degree program.\n<ul>\n<li>Any such submission must include the name of the accrediting body.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>SAT,&nbsp; ACT, and\/or other standardized test&nbsp;scores.<\/li>\n<li>Results from Peabody placement tests.<\/li>\n<li>Transcripts from a college or university showing completion of credit-level courses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Peabody bases its acceptance decisions on our best estimate of an applicant&#8217;s ability to thrive in our musical and academic community.
