Pre-Screening<\/h2>\n
All applicants must submit high-quality video recordings that meet the following requirements for pre-screening. Each selection must be recorded in a single unedited take, and submitted as a separate file labeled with the composer\u2019s name, title of work, and movement if applicable.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Pre-screening repertoire requirements include:<\/div>\n
    \n
  • Exposition of a major concerto (Mozart included)<\/li>\n
  • Any movement from a Bach solo sonata or partita<\/li>\n
  • Any caprice, etude, or showpiece of the applicant’s choice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Pre-screening videos must be submitted with your application by the following deadlines:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Early Decision (Undergraduate only)<\/strong>: November 1st<\/li>\n
    • Regular Decision<\/strong>: December 1st<\/li>\n
    • Late Admission<\/strong>: May 1st<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Auditions<\/h2>\n

      Undergraduate (BM)<\/h4>\n
        \n
      • One movement of a major violin concerto with cadenza if applicable<\/li>\n
      • 1st movement of a Mozart concerto with cadenza<\/li>\n
      • Two contrasting movements of Bach<\/li>\n
      • One Paganini Caprice or other selected Etude like Kreutzer, Dont, Rode<\/li>\n
      • Any contrasting movement or work of the applicant’s choice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Master of Music<\/h4>\n
          \n
        • 2 Contrasting movements of a major violin concerto with cadenza if applicable<\/li>\n
        • 1st movement of a Mozart Concerto with cadenza<\/li>\n
        • Two contrasting movements of Bach or Chaconne<\/li>\n
        • A Paganini Caprice, Wieniawski Caprice, movement of Ysaye *Sonata or equivalent<\/li>\n
        • Any sonata or solo piece that represents the applicants ability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Graduate Performance Diploma<\/h4>\n
            \n
          • 2 Contrasting movements of a major violin concerto with cadenza if applicable<\/li>\n
          • 1st movement of a Mozart Concerto with cadenza<\/li>\n
          • Two contrasting movements of Bach or Chaconne<\/li>\n
          • A Paganini Caprice, Wieniawski Caprice, movement of Ysaye *Sonata or equivalent<\/li>\n
          • Any sonata or solo piece that represents the applicants ability<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Doctor of Musical Arts<\/h4>\n
              \n
            • Complete Major Violin Concerto<\/li>\n
            • 1st movement of a Mozart Concerto with cadenza<\/li>\n
            • A complete Bach Sonata or Partita<\/li>\n
            • One Paganini Caprice, Wieniawski Caprice, or equivalent<\/li>\n
            • Choice of any sonata or solo piece<\/li>\n
            • Any work from the late 20th or 21st century<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Artist Diploma<\/h4>\n

              Prepare a program of no less than 70 minutes duration, representing at least three style periods and including at least two large-scale works. To meet this requirement, please follow these guidelines:<\/p>\n

              • Complete Major Violin Concerto<\/li>\n
              • 1st movement of a Mozart Concerto with cadenza<\/li>\n
              • A complete Bach Sonata or Partita<\/li>\n
              • One Paganini Caprice, Wieniawski Caprice, or equivalent<\/li>\n
              • Choice of any sonata or solo piece<\/li>\n
